Since moving to Memphis in May of 2015, Preteckt has always been a proud member of the thriving startup and tech ecosystem in the city. For us this started with being part of Start Co.’s group of bustling innovative entrepreneurial community located at 88 Union Avenue on the corner of Union and Main Street in downtown Memphis.
It was a terrific starting point for our fledgling company and we had a lot of good times there and fond memories of our friends whom we shared the space with, however we are super excited to announce our move to the new ServiceMaster building downtown (formerly the Peabody Place Mall). Through our partnership with Start Co. we are among the first group of startups that has moved into the Ground Floor, the innovation space at One ServiceMaster Center.
If you are not familiar with us, we are a machine learning company that uses big data to predict unscheduled maintenance and repairs for big trucks and buses. We save our customers thousands of dollars each year by reducing breakdowns and driver downtime.
The Ground Floor is a shared space and home to several startup companies. Former Chief Executive Officer of ServiceMaster, Rob Gillette, was quoted as saying, “By opening the Ground Floor, we want to take advantage of Memphis’ growing tech community. We want our employees to work shoulder to shoulder with many of the startups who are already calling Memphis home. We believe this will spur new thinking, innovations and creativity in all our businesses.” (The Commercial Appeal)
Preteckt was introduced to Memphis through our relationship with Start Co., however we fell in love with the culture and strong city vibes #gritandgrind. Plus, our work with big trucks made Memphis, aka America’s Distribution Center, the best place for us to call home.
Although we will miss being close to some of friends at Union and Main Street, we will be a few blocks away and a little closer to the FedEx Forum, Beale Street, and Tom Lee Park on Riverside Drive. Not to mention a few more mom and pop shops and local eateries.
On the Ground Floor, we are now sharing a 20,000 square foot office space that was previously retail shops, with some great companies like ProxBox, SILQ EDU, Front Door and Graph Story. This move is good for our growing team, especially the engineers and developers. It will assist us with recruiting new talent, securing investors, attracting customers and impressing interns.
As I sit in my new office in this giant new building, I can’t help but to reflect on how we got here and how far we have come. We want everyone to know that #MemphisDelivers and we are a #MemphisProud company.
